ART HOUZ | 11-12-13 | Curated Group Art Show
Art Houz, a famous art venue in Chennai, India hosted an art exhibition titled ’11-12-13’ between the 11th-16th of December, 2013 exhibiting curated pieces from 11 digital artists, 12 photographers and 13 artists. I was one of the featured photographers in this show with three of my photographs from my photo-series titled ’Portals’.
"As a student in the final year of her undergraduate architecture studies, Hemalatha Venkatraman juggles between her passions and academics with gentle ease. She is an artist, poet, writer who writes on her blog that’s one of the leading ones in the country and also works as a freelance writer for magazines after having been a gymnast and athlete for most part of her life.
She is a person who constantly embarks upon travels and enjoys meeting new people, different situations and captures them in the form of sketches, poetry and photographs. Her background in design gives her varied perspectives to view even the most common elements and it reflects in her many forms of expression. In this series of photographs, she explores the portals of life, not just literally but metaphorically too; with magnificent scales and proportions juxtaposed with the simplicity of people and other day-to-day elements, the little moments in-between their routines of work and contrasts."
